The Case For Aaron Judge As AL MVP

Bauer’s Bytes

By Rich Bauer

Aaron Judge has lit up the American League offensively this year and he gets my vote–if I had one–for the AL MVP.  Judge will finish in the top three in each of these categories: WAR, Home Runs, Slugging, OPS, Runs, Total Bases, Runs Batted In, Walks, Runs Created and Overall Times On Base. The Best Golfers In The World Come To Jersey City

The President’s Cup gets underway in our backyard at Liberty National Golf Club in Jersey City this Thursday.  Former Presidents  Barack Obama, George W. Bush and Bill Clinton will be on the first tee when play begins.

Liberty National has hosted the Barclays PGA event twice in 2009 and 2013.  It is a challenging track with spectacular views of the New York City Skyline.  The  course opened in 2006 and is still coming into it’s own.  With time to grow in and mature it will only get better but many golfers are a big fan of the layout.

This is the 12th Presidents Cup, which began in 1994. It was the rest of the golfing world’s answer to the Ryder Cup.  The top golfers in the United States plays against an International squad from players outside of Europe. However unlike the Ryder Cup the competition has been one sided, the U.S. leads 9-1-1 and lost for the only time in 1999. Let’s hope the international team at least makes this interesting  here in Jersey.

On Thursday, there are five foursomes (alternate shot) matches. Friday is fourball, with five (better-ball) matches. Saturday has two sessions and eight matches followed by Sunday’s singles.

The best golfers in the world will be on hand. The US team is led by Jordan Spieth, Rickey Fowler and Dustin Johnson. The International stars are Aussies Jason Day and Adam Scott and  Japan’s Hideki Matsuyama.
