For those of you who do not know, I have been living with a SCI, spinal cord injury, for over 25 years now. I don’t speak about it much, but I don’t hide from it either. I had the pleasure of meeting Eric LeGrand this past spring while the two of us were doing physical therapy at Kessler Institute in West Orange, NJ. I introduced myself, and we became friends pretty quickly. After all, we share a common bond. We want nothing more than to improve our own well being, as well as those who are also living with a SCI.
Following one of our sessions, I asked Eric if he would be interested in doing a segment with us here at More Sports Now called RU Review. He was kind enough to say yes, and on Tuesday nights, he joins my colleague, Steve Tichenor (a Rutgers graduate), and I, for some spirited Rutgers Football chat. We greatly appreciate Eric’s insight and feel for the game.
As he was more than eager to help me/us out, I/we would like to return the favor. Eric has a very important event coming up on Thursday, November 2nd. Newroads Financial Group is having its 5th annual event An Evening with Eric LeGrand in honor of Eric LeGrand, Founder to Team LeGrand of the Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation.
Hosted by RU grads Ron Garutti and Jason Newcomb and the rest of the Newroads Financial Group team and emcee’d by Chris Carlin, attendees are invited to enjoy an evening of cocktails and hors d’oevres, a silent auction, and the chance to hear Eric LeGrand speak about his life and journey after sustaining a spinal cord injury.
To donate an item/experience for the auction, please contact Newroads Financial Group at 908-730-6346.
The event is Thursday, November 2nd at 7 Pm, at Fiddlers Elbow Country Club in Bedminster, New Jersey.
Please come out in support of those of us living with a SCI. Thank you!
