Nick Mangold’s time with the Jets has come to an end. The veteran center spent 11 years with the Jets and earned 7 trips to the Pro Bowls. But with Mangold coming off an ankle injury, the Jets decided to clear salary cap space and rebuild with younger players.
As dominant as he was on the field for the Jets, he is also is known locally as a great guy. Residents of his hometown, Chatham New Jersey, have told me he is easy to approach, always congenial and friendly. Above he is photographed with my brother-in-law and my nephew, George and Stephen Riesco, both lifelong Jet fans, who said Nick is one of their all time favorite players.
Mangold is not expected to retire. Although he is coming off an injury, many experts around the league say his long time dominance with the Jets will get him looks from teams needing an upgrade at center.
Good luck, Nick. We wish you well!
