I mean, what a week! Rudy, Stormy, Kim, Nobody Beats the Fiz, The Pope returns….where do we begin? On the sports pages, of course…no reason to veer out of my lane. So let’s ponder a few items of note.
First let’s flash back to Tuesday, 3:05 PM, Mongo Nation in all its glory as its’ leader, the Sultan of Diet Coke, once again was back on the air. And to prove the value, social media was ablaze, all platforms taking a stance…and I’m sure, the ad dollars pouring into Hudson Street. Because the caretaker of that prime piece of radio real estate, afternoon drive at the FAN, was back at the helm…and asked you to hoist of shot of his favorite tequila to toast his return…or maybe hasten his departure. It’s too bad it’s not a two person show. More energy, more vitality, a better listen. Will it be Numbah One? Only time will tell. But for now, it’s like the return of ‘Will and Grace’ and ‘Roseanne’. The listeners are comfortable. And can’t wait to get cut off!

Let’s now move on from The Pope…to The King. And the debate is at its apex…MJ or LBJ…who ya’ got? Comparing players and eras, no cast vs. supporting cast, injuries vs. health…the variables mount with each erudite dissertation. And as someone who had the pleasure of front row for both luminaries, as well as the prime seat on the couch, what Lebron is doing these days in Ohio?….peruse whatever chart you want to consult. People who dismiss Lebron and his game…do not pay them any attention or waste valuable energy. This is a once-in-a-lifetime performer. Before you know it, he will be an owner…so enjoy his time on the court. Not many will walk thru the door like him again.
And from the legend to the neophyte…plenty of hype, and now center stage. I talk of one Gleyber Torres, unable to sustain in Florida, but no trouble assimilating once the games count. You just watch and you know. So smooth, so confident, so good. Not anything that gives you the wow factor, but this kid’s the real thing. Twenty- one playing like he’s thirty- one.

Let me say this about ‘Homeland’….picked up speed better than Usain in the 200 meters.
YES….ESPN….TNT…CNN. Has forced its way into the rotation.
Dark Knight>Silent Knight>Good Knight. Geez.
Regardless of the play on the field, we get a full season of Gettleman.
